Mobile and Hydraulic Crane Rental

Mobile and Hydraulic Crane Rental

Mobile hydraulic cranes that come to your site, set up efficiently, and handle the lift. Available across Grand Rapids and West Michigan.

What Is a Mobile Hydraulic Crane?

A mobile hydraulic crane is a self-propelled crane mounted on a truck or all-terrain chassis, built to drive to a site under its own power, set up on outriggers, and perform the lift without the days of assembly a tower crane requires. Hydraulic systems extend and retract the boom smoothly under load, which gives the operator precise control over height, reach, and the speed of the lift itself. For the vast majority of construction, industrial, and residential lifts, this is the right category of equipment: fast to mobilize, flexible on site, and capable of handling everything from a single-day pick to a multi-week project.

The alternative, a fixed tower crane, makes sense on a long-duration high-rise build where the crane stays in one place for months. For nearly everything else, a mobile hydraulic crane that shows up, sets up, lifts, and leaves the same day is faster and considerably less expensive.

How Quickly Can a Mobile Crane Be on Site?

Because the crane travels to the job and sets up on its own outriggers rather than requiring a separate assembly crew, mobilization is measured in hours, not days. We keep two cranes available for same-day dispatch specifically because a large share of the calls we get, whether it is a same-day construction need or an urgent equipment lift, cannot wait for a week-long scheduling window. Setup on site typically takes well under an hour once the crane arrives and the ground has been assessed.

What Site Conditions Does a Mobile Crane Need?

A mobile crane needs a reasonably level, stable surface to extend its outriggers and distribute its weight safely. Soft ground, slopes, and underground utilities all factor into where the crane can set up and how much ground protection is needed. We assess this before the day of the lift rather than discovering a problem once the crane has already arrived, and we bring ground protection mats as standard practice to distribute outrigger loads and prevent damage to driveways, lawns, and pavement.

Why Does the Right Crane Size Matter More Than Just Having a Crane?

Renting the biggest available crane is not automatically the right answer, and it is not automatically the cheapest one either. A crane’s usable capacity depends on the load’s weight, how far out it needs to reach, and how high it needs to go, all measured against that specific crane’s load chart. Our fleet runs from a 26-ton crane suited to tight residential access up to a 150-ton crane with a 124-foot main boom for the tallest and heaviest jobs, with a 50-ton crane covering the range between. Matching the crane to the actual lift, rather than defaulting to the largest machine on the lot, keeps the job efficient and the pricing fair.

Operated Rental: Why the Operator Comes With the Crane

Every mobile crane we rent comes with an NCCCO-certified operator. Operating a crane safely requires understanding load charts, rigging, ground conditions, and the specific behavior of that machine under load, and it is not something that should be improvised on site. Renting the crane and the operator together means you get the lifting capacity you need without taking on the liability or the training burden of running the equipment yourself.

What Industries and Projects Use Mobile Crane Rental?

  • General contractors needing crane support for a specific phase of a build
  • Industrial facilities relocating or installing equipment
  • HVAC and mechanical contractors setting rooftop units
  • Property owners and homeowners with a one-time lift
  • Tree services needing crane assistance on hazardous removals
  • Any job requiring a single pick or a short-duration crane presence rather than a long-term fixed crane

Frequently Asked Questions

A mobile crane drives to the site, sets up on outriggers, and is ready to lift within an hour or so. A tower crane requires assembly over multiple days and is typically used only when a crane needs to remain on site for months. Mobile cranes are the right fit for the large majority of jobs.

A clear, reasonably level area for the crane to set up is helpful, but we assess ground conditions and access in advance and bring ground protection mats to handle most surface concerns.

Both. Many of our jobs are a single pick completed in a few hours, and we also support multi-day or ongoing crane presence for larger projects.

Yes. We provide operated rental, meaning an NCCCO-certified operator comes with the crane. This is standard on every job we do.
